Abubakar Nurmagomedov to Face Jorge Moreno on WSOF 22 Main Card
Abubakar Nurmagomedov will make his World Series of Fighting debut against Jorge Moreno on Aug. 1.
The Las Vegas-based promotion recently announced the welterweight matchup, which will be featured on the WSOF 22 main card. WSOF 22 takes place at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas and is headlined by a welterweight title tilt between Rousimar Palhares and Jake Shields. The card will also see Marlon Moraes defend his bantamweight strap against Sheymon da Silva Moraes. The five-bout main card airs on the NBC Sports Network beginning at 11 p.m. ET/8 p.m. PT.
Nurmagomedov, who is the younger brother of UFC lightweight contender Khabib Nurmagomdeov, has been victorious in nine of his first 10 professional outings. All nine of those triumphs have come by way of knockout, technical knockout or submission. The Fightspirit Team member last competed in February, stopping Vladimir Gunzu via first-round TKO.
Moreno, 19, will be making his welterweight debut after compiling a 4-0 record at 185 pounds. The Washington native has already won two fights of 2015, including a first-round stoppage of Ian Williams in his most recent appearance on April 17.
