Matt Lindland (Pictures) will fight Vitor Belfort (Pictures) at the Oct. 11 Affliction event in Las Vegas, Affliction announced Wednesday at a news conference.

Belfort (17-8) is currently serving a 180-day medical suspension with the California State Athletic Commission following his July 19 knockout win over Terry Martin (Pictures) at Affliction’s debut event in Anaheim. An orthopedic doctor must clear him before he can fight Lindland.

Lindland was also victorious at the July 19 show. He outpointed Fabio Negao (Pictures) to improve to 21-5.

Affliction also announced Wednesday that IFL heavyweight champion Roy Nelson (Pictures) will fight Paul Buentello (Pictures).

Buentello, 26-10, is coming off a decisive win over Gary Goodridge (Pictures) at Affliction’s July 19 event. The American Kickboxing Academy-trained heavyweight has won five out of six fights since Andrei Arlovski (Pictures) knocked him out in a UFC heavyweight title fight in October 2005.

Nelson, 13-2, has won seven of his last eight fights, dropping only a split decision to Ben Rothwell (Pictures) in an April 2007 IFL bout. He has fought twice in 2008, stopping both Fabiano Scherner (Pictures) and Brad Imes (Pictures) in the first round.
