After Brief Hiatus, Francis Ngannou Responds to Derrick Lewis: ‘I’m Here Now’
Francis Ngannou needed a little bit of time off following his loss to Stipe Miocic at UFC 220. Apparently, “The Predator” is ready for a return, and he’s been made aware of some of Derrick Lewis’ recent comments regarding his performance.

Derrick has been talking some of his sh*t while I was off . Can someone please let him know that I'm here now, so if he really wants me, he should send his manager to deal with @ufc

Ngannou entered UFC 220 with a fair amount of hype thanks to a
six-fight finishing streak in the Octagon, but he faded quickly
against Miocic and lost a unanimous decision. After learning that
Ngannou made $500,000 in defeat, Lewis didn’t hold back in an
interview with
MMAjunkie.com.
“Now that I’ve seen that – what’s his name, Francis [Ngannou}? – he got $500,000 just fighting for the belt,” Lewis said. “Let me fight for the belt next. They can give me $500,000. (Expletive), I’m going to gas out too.
“Guaranteed $500,000? You don’t have to worry about me training before a camp. I’ll be drinking a beer right after weigh-ins.”
Lewis is coming off a third-round knockout of Marcin Tybura at UFC Fight Night 126 on Feb. 18. The 33-year-old “Black Beast” has won seven of his last eight Octagon appearances. Ngannou, meanwhile, professed a desire for a break following his loss to Miocic.
“In my dark way, I'm taking some time off which will benefit my personal life by going back home to enjoy family and friends,” Ngannou wrote on Twitter. “Then I'll be back to set businesses up.”
Recently, however, the Cameroonian-born Frenchman announced that he was ready to get back to work.
