Eddie Wineland will return to the Octagon for the first time in more than a year when he locks horns with Bryan Caraway at UFC on Fox 16.
Promotion officials announced the bantamweight bout late Thursday evening. UFC on Fox 16 takes place at the United Center in Chicago on July 25 and is headlined by a 135-pound title rematch between T.J. Dillashaw and Renan Barao.
Wineland has not competed since having his jaw broken in a first-round knockout loss to Johnny Eduardo at UFC Fight Night “Brown vs. Silva” in May 2014.The WEC veteran is 3-4 in the promotion, with victories over Scott Jorgensen, Brad Pickett and Yves Jabouin.
Caraway, meanwhile, has won four of his six fights within the Las Vegas-based organization. Most recently, the 30-year-old Washington native suffered a unanimous decision loss to Raphael Assuncao at UFC Fight Night “MacDonald vs. Saffiedine.”
