Alex Oliveira Replaces Injured Matt Brown, Meets Carlos Condit at UFC on Fox 29

Alex Oliveira will replace the injured Matt Brown and face Carlos Condit at UFC on Fox 29.

Multiple outlets confirmed the booking on Tuesday following an initial report from Combate. Brown withdrew from the welterweight contest after tearing his ACL.

UFC on Fox 29 takes place at Gila River Arena in Glendale, Ariz., on April 14 and is headlined by a lightweight tilt between Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje. The main card airs on the Fox Network following prelims on Fox Sport 1 and UFC Fight Pass.

Oliveira, 30, saw a five-bout unbeaten streak come to an end at UFC 218, as he suffered a third-round technical knockout loss to Yancy Medeiros. However, the matchup ended up on many “Fight of the Year” lists for 2017.

Condit, meanwhile, returned from a 16-month absence at UFC 219, where he suffered a unanimous decision loss against Neil Magny. The Jackson-Wink MMA product has lost his last three Octagon appearances.
