Alexander Volkanovski Gets Third New Opponent at UFC Fight Night 121 in Sydney

After losing both Jeremy Kennedy and Humberto Bandenay as potential foes at UFC Fight Night 121, Alexander Volkanovski will square off against Shane Young on short notice Saturday in Sydney.

The Las Vegas-based promotion announced the new matchup Tuesday. UFC Fight Night 121 takes place at Qudos Bank Arena and is headlined by a heavyweight showdown between Fabricio Werdum and Marcin Tybura. The card airs on FS1 following early prelims on UFC Fight Pass.

Volkanovski enters the bout vs. Young with a 15-1 career mark that includes wins over Mizuto Hirota and Yusuke Kasuya in UFC competition. The Australia native has finished 12 of his career victories by knockout, technical knockout or submission.

Hailing from Auckland, New Zealand, Young will make his Octagon debut on a five-bout winning streak. The 24-year-old City Kickboxing representative is 11-3 as a professional, with nine triumphs coming inside the distance.
