Undefeated Aljamain Sterling will face Manny Gamburyan in a bantamweight contest at UFC on Fox 15 on April 18.
The bout was announced on Thursday by the Ultimate Fighting Championship through a report by Newsday. The fight joins a card headlined by Lyoto Machida against Luke Rockhold and takes place at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.
Sterling was scheduled to face Frankie Saenz at UFC Fight Night “Rockhold vs. Bisping,” but an injury to Saenz caused the fight to be canceled. The 25-year-old maintains an undefeated mark 10 fights into his career, including wins over Cody Gibson and Hugo Viana under the UFC banner.
Gamburyan is coming off a win in his 135-pound debut against the aforementioned Gibson at UFC 178. “The Anvil” is only the fifth fighter in UFC history to notch a win in three separate weight classes. The Glendale Fighting Club-trained competitor made it known that he wanted to fight Bryan Caraway following his win in September, but that fight has yet to come to fruition.
