Roy Nelson and
Brendan Schaub tipped the scales under the 265-pound heavyweight limit to put the stamp on the main event of “
The Ultimate Fighter” Finale Saturday night in Las Vegas. Nelson (13-4), a burly former IFL champion, teetered just below the limit, weighing in at 263-pounds while his opponent Schaub (4-0) came in 23-pounds south at 240.
A showdown between fast-rising prospect
Jon Jones and TUF alumnus
Matt Hamill (7-2) became official as the athletes both hit the scales at 206 pounds. In what should be his stiffest test to date, Jones (9-0) will face a very tough customer in Hamill.
Frankie Edgar (10-1) and
Matt Veach both came into their lightweight match at the 155 pound limit. Edgar returns after scoring impressive wins over
Sean Sherk and
Hermes Franca following his lone defeat at the hands of lightweight contender Grey Maynard. He will face the undefeated
Matt Veach (11-0), who won his UFC debut against
Matt Grice in February of this year.
Kevin Ferguson -- aka Kimbo Slice (212) -- will take on fellow brawler
Houston Alexander (208) in a catch-weight bout contracted at 215 pounds. Ferguson (3-1) lost to finalist
Roy Nelson and will look to notch his first UFC win against the hard-hitting Alexander.
Alexander (9-4) is hoping to rebound from three consecutive losses after setting the light heavyweight division on its ear with back-to-back knockouts of
Keith Jardine and
Alessio Sakara to start of his UFC campaign.
