All five UFC 129 preliminary contests not shown on television will stream live on social networking site Facebook prior to the event’s pay-per-view broadcast, the promotion announced late Wednesday night.
In addition to the main event, the show will also feature a featherweight title bout between titleholder Jose Aldo and hometown favorite Mark Hominick. UFC 129 marks the promotion’s first trip to Ontario and may also go down as the site of Randy Couture’s last fight, as “The Natural” squares off with fellow former champ Lyoto Machida. Light heavyweights Jason Brilz and Vladimir Matyushenko will also scrap on the pay-per-view broadcast, as will lightweights Mark Bocek and Ben Henderson.
The Facebook stream will showcase a myriad of weight classes, ranging from 135 to 185 pounds. At bantamweight, Ivan Menjivar will meet Charlie Valencia, while featherweights Yves Jabouin and Pablo Garza lock horns. Also scheduled for the stream is a lightweight showdown between John Makdessi and Kyle Watson, as well as a welterweight clash pitting Claude Patrick against Daniel Roberts. Rounding out the Facebook stream will be a middleweight confrontation between Jason MacDonald and Ryan Jensen.
The Spike TV “UFC Prelims Live” special, which airs after the Facebook stream and one hour prior to the pay-per-view broadcast, will feature a pair of welterweight tilts pitting Nate Diaz against Rory MacDonald and Sean Pierson against Jake Ellenberger.
