A featherweight clash between Andre Fili and Sean Soriano has been added to the UFC Fight Night Connecticut bill.
The promotion confirmed the matchup on Wednesday following an initial report from The Providence Journal. The event takes place at the Foxwoods Resort and Casino in Ledyard, Conn., on Sept. 5 and also includes a Joe Lauzon-Michael Chiesa lightweight pairing.
A 23-year-old Team Alpha Male prospect, “Touchy” Fili enjoyed success in his first Octagon venture, as he scored a second-round TKO against Jeremy Larsen at UFC 166. He encountered more difficulty in his sophomore effort, submitting to a Max Holloway guillotine choke at UFC 172 this past April.
A Florida-based fighter who was born in Providence, Soriano was tapped to a second-round rear-naked choke against Tatsuya Kawajiri in his UFC debut on Jan. 4. The 24-year-old is a former interim Championship Fighting Alliance titlist who began his professional career with eight straight victories.
