Anthony Pettis has broken his silence after three vehicles were set on fire in the driveway of his Milwaukee home early Thursday morning.

“I am a fighter. I won't be defeated by this. I am also extremely confused and saddened by the events that occurred,” Pettis wrote on Instagram. “I am grateful that no one was harmed by this cowardly act. My life as well as my loved ones were put in danger. I cannot understand why someone would want to hurt myself or my family. I will do everything I can to ensure that we find out who committed this crime and that they are prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

“I'm constantly defending my choice to stay in this city. Regardless of the crimes that have been occurring lately, this is my home. I really hope the city that I rep has my back on this one and helps by reporting anything they know about this.”

While the investigation is still ongoing, Milwaukee police believe an unknown suspect used an accelerant to ignite two of the vehicles in Pettis’ driveway and the fire then spread to the third vehicle. A witness who lives in the neighborhood claims to have seen a car speeding through the area.

Pettis is scheduled to return to the Octagon against Max Holloway at UFC 206 in Toronto on Dec. 10. The former UFC lightweight champion made a successful 145-pound debut in August, when he submitted Charles Oliveira in the third round at UFC on Fox 21.
