A light heavyweight showdown between Anthony Johnson and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira is slated to go down at UFC on Fox 12, UFC officials announced Thursday.
UFC on Fox 12 takes place July 26 at the SAP Center in San Jose, Calif., and the evening’s main card airs live on the Fox Network following a Fox Sports 1-broadcast preliminary draw.
A former UFC welterweight, Johnson, 30, returned to the Octagon on April 26 as a light heavyweight, outstriking Phil Davis en route to a unanimous decision at UFC 172. “Rumble” currently owns a seven-fight winning streak and compiled three victories during his short stint with the World Series of Fighting, besting D.J. Linderman, Andrei Arlovski and Mike Kyle.
Nogueira, meanwhile, has seen his return to action delayed by injury. The veteran was previously linked to bouts with both Mauricio Rua and Alexander Gustafsson, but neither contest came to fruition. “Minotoro” last competed in February 2013, when he outpointed Rashad Evans in a lackluster unanimous decision at UFC 156.
