Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson to Face Jimi Manuwa at UFC 191 in Las Vegas

Former light heavyweight title challenger Anthony “Rumble” Johnson is slated to make his return to action on Sept. 5 in one of the featured bouts of UFC 191. The Ultimate Fighting Championship announced the news on Thursday afternoon that Johnson will be trading blows with British bomber Jimi Manuwa.

Johnson will be fighting for the first time since being pounded on and submitted by Daniel Cormier for the vacant light heavyweight crown in May. Johnson had won nine consecutive battles -- including three in a row in his return to the UFC -- before losing to Cormier. “Rumble” was originally supposed to lock horns with Jan Blachowicz, but the UFC decided to switch him with “Poster Boy” in what should be an all-action striking fan’s dream. Blachowicz will still fight on the UFC 191 card, but his new opponent has yet to be announced.

Manuwa has lost just once as a pro, that coming against Alexander Gustafsson at UFC Fight Night 37. Otherwise, he’s knocked out 13 opponents in his 15 wins. He last fought in April, where he scored a unanimous decision over Blachowicz.

UFC 191 is headlined by the flyweight championship between Demetrious Johnson and John Dodson.
