Arrest Prevents Bennett from Fighting 'Joe Boxer'
Charles Bennett
(Pictures)'s inability to stay out of
trouble with the law has once again resulted in him missing a
scheduled fight.
The 28-year-old lightweight from Ocala, Fla., will be arraigned Tuesday for charges stemming from a domestic dispute on Jan. 9 -- Bennett's 25th arrest in Marion County since December 1997, according to media reports.
The arraignment comes just two days before "Krazy Horse" was scheduled to fight Victor Valenzuela (Pictures) for a third time in King of the Cage.
Matt Ver Halen (Pictures) has replaced Bennett (19-14-2) in the fight at San Manuel Casino in Highland, Calif., ProElite.com announced Monday.
Bennett, who is under contract with ProElite, the parent company of Showtime's EliteXC, failed to appear in a scheduled rematch with Valenzuela on June 22, 2007, after being arrested for a pair of probation violations.
Valenzuela knocked out Bennett when the two met in August 2007, erasing a previous draw following their first contest two years earlier.
