Cody Garbrandt will remain on the UFC Fight Night Pittsburgh bill, as Augusto Mendes has agreed to face the Team Alpha Male member on short notice.
Promotion officials confirmed the matchup after John Lineker withdrew from the contest when he contracted dengue fever. UFC Fight Night takes place at Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh on Sunday and is headlined by a welterweight title pitting Donald Cerrone against Alex Oliveira.
A Legacy Fighting Championship veteran, Mendes was supposed to make his promotional debut at UFC Fight Night in Boston on Jan. 17 but had to withdraw from a bout against Charles Rosa after suffering an injury. “Tanquinho” is unbeaten in five pro outings, including three under the Legacy FC banner.
Garbrandt is 7-0 since beginning his pro career in 2012. “No Love” debuted in the Octagon with a third-round stoppage of Marcus Brimage at UFC 182 before outpointing Enrique Briones in his most recent appearance at UFC 189 this past July.
