The California-based promotion confirmed the catch-weight bout following an initial report from The Sun on Friday. Bellator 179 takes place at the O2 in London and is headlined by a welterweight duel pitting Rory MacDonald against Paul Daley. The evening’s main card will be televised on Spike beginning at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT.
“Baby Slice” made his pro debut at Bellator 165, where he was submitted at the 3:00 mark of round two by Aaron Hamilton. Griffin, meanwhile, will be making his first professional foray after compiling a 2-2 mark on the amateur circuit.
“I am so excited to get back to work and show the world how hard I've been grinding. “On a personal level, this fight means a lot to me,” Ferguson told The Sun. "Not only because I'll be making my Bellator main card debut but because I get to show the people in London how a Slice gets down.
“Just like Pop's told me, keep your guard up, and stand your ground — I'm going to Slice this Griffin guy up real bad.”
