Bailey, Wiuff Added to Bellator Season 6 Premiere on March 9

Nine fights are now confirmed for Bellator Fighting Championships’ sixth-season premiere, as three new undercard bouts have been added to the Bellator 60 bill.

Sherdog.com has confirmed with sources close to the fighters that UFC veterans Shamar Bailey (Pictured) and Travis Wiuff will compete at the March 9 event, taking on Josh Shockley and Anthony Gomez at 165 and 215 pounds, respectively. NWITimes.com first reported the Bailey-Shockley matchup in January.

Additionally, featherweights Mike Corey and Bobby Reardanz will collide at the event, which takes place at The Venue at Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Ind. The evening’s preliminary bouts will stream live on Spike.com prior to the main card’s broadcast on MTV2 and Epix.

Highlighting the televised card will be a featherweight championship bout pitting reigning champion Joe Warren against Summer Series tournament king and former lightweight title challenger Pat Curran. Also featured will be the quarterfinal round of the sixth-season 145-pound tournament, featuring Marlon Sandro, Wagnney Fabiano and Daniel Straus.

Bailey exited the Octagon following back-to-back losses in 2011, dropping a one-sided decision to Evan Dunham in September before falling by technical knockout to Danny Castillo two months later at UFC 139. “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 13 veteran rebounded from the defeats to begin 2012, finishing Darrell Smith with a brabo choke at Colosseum Combat 19 on Jan. 7.

A former two-time UFC competitor, Wiuff has won three straight fights since falling to fellow UFC vet Tim Hague in October 2010. Wiuff made his Bellator debut this past fall, earning a three-round, non-title decision over light heavyweight champion Christian M’Pumbu at Bellator 55.
