"I’m really happy today," Correia wrote (translation via MMAFighting.com). "With hard work, blood, sweat, punches to the face and much more… I’m renewing my contract with the UFC for eight more fights. I will be able to give my fans at least eight fights on TV, and follow my life and my camp for more eight fights. I will always do my best."
Correia is set to challenge reigning 135-pound queen Ronda Rousey in the UFC 190 headliner on Aug. 1. The event takes place at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro and airs on pay-per-view.
The 31-year-old Correia is unbeaten in nine professional outings. The Brazilian known as “Pitbull” owns triumphs over Shayna Baszler, Jessamyn Duke and Julie Kedzie during her UFC tenure thus far.
