Ultimate Fighting Championship’s July 7 event in Las Vegas will feature a 135-pound matchup between Brazilian bantamweight Felipe Arantes and returning wrestler Jerrod Sanders.
UFC officials recently announced the matchup, which will be part of UFC Fight Night “Dos Anjos vs. Alvarez.”
Arantes has competed in the UFC since August 2011, building a record of 4-3-1, but he has yet to win back-to-back bouts inside the Octagon. The 28-year-old Chute Boxe fighter has been out of action since August 2015, when he submitted WEC vet Yves Jabouin with a first-round armbar.
Sanders, 35, will also look to build on a win as he returns from a year on the sideline. The former Oklahoma State University freestyle wrestling standout last stepped into the cage in July 2015, when he took a unanimous decision over Russell Doane at “The Ultimate Fighter 21” Finale.
UFC Fight Night “Dos Anjos vs. Alvarez” will stream live on UFC Fight Pass from MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The main event sees UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos defending his belt against former Bellator ace Eddie Alvarez.
