John Dodson will meet Eddie Wineland in a bantamweight matchup at UFC Fight Night 108, promotion officials announced Tuesday.
UFC Fight Night 108 takes place at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on April 22 and is currently headlined by a featherweight duel pitting Cub Swanson against Artem Lobov. However, a welterweight clash between Demian Maia and Jorge Masvidal is reportedly in the works to become the card’s new main event, although nothing has been finalized (online sportsbooks).
After a lengthy run at flyweight that included two losses in title bouts to reigning 125-pound king Demetrious Johnson, Dodson moved to bantamweight last year. “The Magician” began his 135-pound campaign with a 47-second stoppage of Manny Gamburyan at UFC on Fox 19 before suffering a contentious split-decision defeat to John Lineker at UFC Fight Night 96 this past October.
Wineland, meanwhile, enters the matchup with Dodson on a two-fight winning streak after scoring back-to-back technical knockout victories against Frankie Saenz and Takeya Mizugaki in 2016. The 32-year-old Indiana native is 5-5 during his promotional tenure.
