An intriguing bantamweight clash has been added to the UFC 227 lineup, as Pedro Munhoz and Brett Johns will square off in Los Angeles on Aug. 4.
The Las Vegas-based promotion recently confirmed the matchup. UFC 227 takes place at The Staples Center and will see a pair of championship rematches at the top of the bill, as T.J. Dillashaw defends the bantamweight crown against Cody Garbrandt, while reigning flyweight king Demetrious Johnson locks horns with Henry Cejudo.
Munhoz had a four-bout winning streak snapped at UFC 222, when he lost a split verdict against John Dodson on March 3. “The Young Punisher” is 5-3-1 with one no contest during his promotional tenure and 15-3 as a professional overall.
Johns, meanwhile, suffered the first lost of his 16-bout career when he dropped a unanimous decision to Aljamain Sterling at UFC Fight Night 128 on April 21. The 26-year-old Welshman began his Octagon tenure with successful triumphs over Kwan Ho Kwak, Albert Morales and Joe Soto.
