Sean O’Malley and Andre Soukhamthath will lock horns in a bantmweight duel at UFC 222.
Soukhamthath confirmed the pairing via Twitter on Wednesday. UFC 222 takes place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on March 3. The main card airs on pay-per-view, with prelims appearing on Fox Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
It’s been official, was just waiting for the news to get out. Looking forward to fighting in Vegas again. https://t.co/23idCN4Mef— Andre Soukhamthath (@AndreSoukMMA) December 27, 2017
O’Malley emerged as an intriguing prospect following a first-round knockout of Alfred Khashakyan on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series 2. The 23-year-old known as “Sugar” followed that up with a unanimous verdict over Terrion Ware in his Octagon debut at “The Ultimate Fighter 26” finale. O’Malley owns a 9-0 professional mark, with seven triumphs coming inside the distance.
Soukhamthath, meanwhile, earn his first promotional triumph with a second-round TKO of Luke Sanders at UFC Fight Night 123 on Dec. 9. “The Asian Sensation” began his UFC tenure with back-to-back split-decision defeats to Albert Morales and Alejandro Perez.
