Bantamweight prospect Thomas Almeida will attempt to continue his ascent when he meets Anthony Birchak at UFC Fight Night "Belfort vs. Henderson 3" in Sao Paulo on Nov. 7.
Promotion officials confirmed the matchup on Wednesday evening. UFC Fight Night takes place at Geraldo Jose de Almeida State Gymnasium and is headlined by the third meeting between Dan Henderson and Vitor Belfort.
The 24-year-old Almeida is unbeaten in 19 professional bouts, including three triumphs in the UFC. The Brazilian has bested Brad Pickett, Yves Jabouin and Tim Gorman thus far during his promotional tenure, and his knockout of Pickett at UFC 189 was one of the year’s most memorable finishes. Overall, Almeida has stopped all but one of his foes inside the distance.
Birchak, meanwhile, garnered his first Octagon triumph on June 6, as he stopped Joe Soto via technical knockout 1:37 into the opening frame of their UFC Fight Night encounter. The 29-year-old Arizonan owns a 12-2 record, with 10 victories via knockout, technical knockout or submission.
