Strikeforce Challengers 14 will feature a lightweight scrap between the undefeated Lyle Beerbohm (Pictured) and veteran Pat Healy on Feb. 18.
Beerbohm was last seen in the Strikeforce cage on May 15, when he defeated Shooto veteran Vitor “Shaolin” Ribeiro via contentious split decision at Strikeforce “Heavy Artillery” in St. Louis. “Fancy Pants” has since run off back-to-back victories at local events in Washington. Perfect through 16 professional outings, the EliteXC veteran has finished 14 of his career victims by either knockout or submission. A documented former methamphetamine user, Beerbohm began his professional MMA career in 2007 after serving prison time as a result of his drug use.
A winner of three of his last four contests, Healy is a former Maximum Fighting Championship welterweight titleholder. After fighting for the UFC, WEC and International Fight League, “Bam Bam” made his promotional debut at Strikeforce Challengers 8 in May, defeating Bryan Travers by unanimous decision. Healy’s sophomore effort was not as successful, however, as the Team Quest product submitted to former Strikeforce lightweight king Josh Thomson at “Fedor vs. Werdum” in June.
