Belal Muhammad will attempt to capture his first Octagon triumph when he faces Augusto Montano at UFC Fight Night in Hidalgo on Sept. 17.
The promotion’s Spanish branch recently announced the welterweight matchup. UFC Fight Night takes place at State Farm Arena in Hidalgo, Texas, and is headlined by a lightweight showdown pitting Dustin Poirier against Michael Johnson. The evening’s main card will be televised on Fox Sports 1.
A former Titan Fighting Championship titlist, Belal was impressive in losing his promotional debut to Alan Jouban at UFC Fight Night in Las Vegas on July 7. After being knocked down multiple times in the first two frames, “Remember the Name” mounted a furious rally in the final stanza but ultimately fell via unanimous decision. Muhammad had been unbeaten in his first nine professional outings.
Montano, meanwhile, will return to action for the first time since UFC 188, when he suffered a decision loss to Cathal Pendred in Mexico City. “The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America” cast member debuted in the promotion with a first-round technical knockout victory over Chris Heatherly at UFC 180.
