Daniel Straus and Pat Curran will meet for the third time on March 14 in a rematch for the Bellator MMA featherweight title.
The fight will headline Bellator 112, which takes place at The Venue at Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Ind., the promotion today announced. Also slated for the card is the opening round of Bellator’s Season 10 welterweight tournament, which will see War Machine take on Nah-Shon Burrell and Joe Riggs go up against Sam Oropeza.
Straus and Curran first met in 2009, when Curran punched his way to a second-round knockout under the banner of Illinois’ Xtreme Fighting Organization. Straus evened the score last November when, after earning a shot at the belt by winning Bellator’s Season 6 featherweight tournament, he ground out Curran to win a five-round unanimous decision.
War Machine came up short in the Season 9 welterweight tournament, as the former “Ultimate Fighter” cast member was eliminated in the semifinal round by Ron Keslar. Burrell won his Bellator debut in a Nov. 15 non-tournament bout against Jesus Martinez, moving to 2-0 since his release from the UFC.
Riggs last saw action on Nov. 2, when he was crowned the winner of Bellator’s “Fight Master” reality show after outpointing Mike Bronzoulis. Oropeza has won his last two Bellator appearances by knockout, including a 37-second stoppage of Chip Moraza-Pollard on Nov. 15.
