The semifinals of Bellator’s Season 10 welterweight tournament will take place at Bellator 116 on April 11.
The promotion announced the news on Monday. Bellator 116 takes place at Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula, Calif., and is also expected to include a light heavyweight bout pitting Vladimir Matyushenko against Joey Beltran.
Bellator’s welterweight tournament begins on March 14 with four quarterfinal pairings: War Machine vs. Nah-Shon Burrell, Joe Riggs vs. Sam Oropeza, Andrey Koreshkov vs. Jesse Juarez and Mark Scanlon vs. Adam McDonough.
Meanwhile, Douglas Lima and Rick Hawn will vie for the vacant 170-pound belt on April 18, according to Bellator.com. However, a date for that title bout has not been formally announced by the promotion. The welterweight championship was vacated when Ben Askren was released from his Bellator contract and signed with One FC.
