In Bellator’s relatively thin heavyweight division, there is plenty at stake for Cheick Kongo and Alexander Volkov.

A longtime UFC veteran, Kongo is 4-2 since signing with Bellator in 2013. He came up short in his first shot at heavyweight gold, losing a five-round verdict to Vitaly Minakov at Bellator 115. The 40-year-old Frenchman owns notable triumphs over Lavar Johnson, Shawn Jordan, Matt Mitrione, Pat Barry and Mirko Filipovic during his professional tenure.
Volkov began his Bellator career with three straight victories and captured the promotion’s heavyweight strap with a unanimous decision triumph over Rich Hale in December 2012. He would lose the title to Minakov via first-round TKO in his next outing, however. More recently, the 26-year-old Russian had a five-bout winning streak snapped by Tony Johnson at Bellator 136.
