Bellator MMA’s next tent-pole event will feature a pair of title bouts, as Patricio Freire defends his featherweight strap against Daniel Straus, and Will Brooks faces Marcin Held for lightweight gold on Nov. 6.
A promotion official confirmed the news Thursday evening following an initial report from MMAFighting.com. The event, entitled Bellator 145 "Vengeance," will take place at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis and air on Spike TV.
Freire and Straus have already squared off twice, with “Pitbull” emerging victorious on both occasions. The Brazilian earned a unanimous decision over Straus at Bellator 45 before submitting the American with a fourth-round rear-naked choke in a title clash at Bellator 132 on Jan. 16.
Brooks has won seven straight fights under the Bellator banner, including a five-round verdict over Dave Jansen in his most recent appearance at Bellator 136. Held, meanwhile, is on a six-fight tear of his own, including wins against Alexander Sarnavskiy and Patricky Freire in his last two outings.
Michael Chandler and Bobby Lashley are also expected to compete at Bellator 145, but their opponents will be announced at a later date.
