English middleweight Alex Reid will tangle with Spain’s Manuel Garcia next month as part of Bellator MMA’s British debut.
The three-round, 185-pound matchup was announced Monday by Atak Promotions, a company working with Bellator to promote the upcoming event.
Reid, 40, has not stepped into the cage in more than three years and has competed in mixed martial arts only three times since 2007. “The Reidernator” began a professional kickboxing career in 2009 and compiled a record of 3-1 with one knockout. In 2010, Reid appeared on and won the British version of “Celebrity Big Brother.”

Reid has stated that he is fighting again because he is more than half a million dollars in debt and said he is “petrified about getting back in the ring.” Recently, imprisoned bank robber and onetime UFC fighter Lee Murray has reportedly expressed interest in fighting Reid.
Garcia, 43, will enter the bout on a three-fight losing skid. “Manu” last saw action in December, when he was submitted in under three minutes by Estonia’s Alik Tseiko.
Bellator 158 takes place July 16 at O2 Arena in London and features a welterweight clash pitting Paul Daley against Douglas Lima. The event lost its heavyweight headliner last week with the sudden death of Kimbo Slice; the organization is reportedly seeking a new opponent to face James Thompson on the card.
