Connecticut native Mike Kimbel will compete on home soil when he meets Alex Potts in a preliminary bout at Bellator 207 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., on Oct. 12.
Sherdog.com recently confirmed the bantamweight matchup with a promotion official. Bellator 207 will be headlined by a heavyweight grand prix semifinal between Ryan Bader and Matt Mitrione. The evening’s main card will be televised on Paramount Network, with prelims streaming on Bellator.com.
Kimbel made a strong first impression in his pro — and promotional — debut at Bellator 194, as he dispatched Geoffrey Then in just 63 seconds on Feb. 16. Kimbel floored his opponent with a right hand early, but then found himself ensared in an armbar as he attempted to pounce for the finish. “The Savage” then slammed his foe on his head and ended the contest with a series of right hands on the mat.
Potts, meawhile, was also victorious in his Bellator MMA debut. The Ultimate Athletics Syracuse product submitted Brandon Polcare with a kimura 3:10 into the opening round at Bellator 182 in August 2017 for his first professional victory.
