Bellator 256’s Cat Zingano Launches $10,000 Scholarship to Help Students Overcome Loss
I know first hand that losing a loved one can be devastating, so I’ve partnered with @bolddotorg to launch the $10,000 Cat Zingano Overcoming Loss Scholarship to help a student navigating life after loss. Check it and spread the word: https://t.co/XAs4SN62qa pic.twitter.com/26cmKEjoc7

Just a few days ahead of her next Bellator MMA appearance, Cat Zingano has started a $10,000 scholarship fund with Bold.org.

Zigano’s mother was diagnosed with Stage 4 brain cancer when the fighter was in her early 20s, and Zingano struggled to focus on her education due to her mom’s declining health and eventual death in 2005. Zingano also lost her husband to suicide in 2014, which was another difficult time for both her and her son. The scholarship is designed to aid those who have experienced similar tragedy in their own lives.
“The impact of losing my loved ones changed my life,” Zingano said in release. “I’m so grateful for the support and resources that many have offered me over the years. Struggling with loss is never easy, and it never goes away.
“This scholarship is for students who have lost a loved one and are still grinding away toward their education. I know at times I’ve needed help, so now I’m paying it forward to someone who has experienced loss and needs help, just as I did.”
Zingano will return to action at Bellator 256, when she face Olivia Parker at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut on Friday night. The former UFC bantamweight title challenger successfully debuted in the California-based promotion with a three-round verdict over Gabrielle Holloway at Bellator 245 this past September.
