Tracy Willis vs. Mark Holata
Round 1
Willis paws with his jab and circles as the bout begins. Holata throws a leg kick and the heavyweights quickly clinch up. Holata lands a crunching knee that drops Willis to the mat. Holata pounces on his hurt foe and cracks him with two follow-up punches. Willis wants no part of the beating and taps out due to strikes at just 49 seconds of the first round.

Shane Howell vs. Mark Oshiro
K. Mills

Howell (bottom) impressed against
Oshiro.
Round 1
The bantamweights square off immediately. Oshiro throws a big head kick and flurries, but Howell gets the Hawaiian on the mat and takes top position. Oshiro sinks in a guillotine which Howell escapes, only to fall into a triangle choke on the way out. Howell quickly frees himself and stands back up. Oshiro throws pawing shots before taking the fight to the ground himself, setting up in Howell's half guard. Oshiro controls Howell from the top, but as he attempts to pass, Howell fits him for a heel hook. Oshiro pulls out, but ends up on his back and Howell begins to land heavy ground-and-pound. Big elbows land for Howell and Oshiro covers up, before looking to grab hold of a single-leg. As he does, Howell locks up a brabo choke that forces the tap at 4:15 of the first round.

K. Mills

Hess (bottom) showed off his subs.
Chris Bell vs. Jared Hess
Round 1
Hess starts quickly as the former University of Central Oklahoma wrestler gets a takedown. However, Bell scrambles back to his feet and they're soon standing again. Hess is undaunted: he lands punches to the body and shoots another takedown, which Bell stuffs. Bell gets a headlock, and the former Bellator tournament runner-up works back to his feet. Hess gets control of his foe's head and grabs a guillotine. Bell drives Hess to the mat and escapes the choke, but quickly finds himself snared in a triangle. Hess tightens up the submission, and with no way out, Bell is forced to tap just 1:40 into the first round.

Jerod Spoon vs. Luis Alberto Nogueira
Round 1
Kevin Nix is the referee for the evening’s first televised bout. Spoon lobs a kick to the body after 30 seconds of feeling out, and Nogueira decides to charge in with a combo. He lands, but eats a hard right hand and stumbles backward. Spoon doesn’t give chase and the bantamweights go back to stalking. Nogueira goes to outside thigh kicks and lights Spoon up with a one-two. Another Nogueira combination in the pocket is followed by a body kick and a flying knee, and he’s got Spoon moving backward. Spoon just misses with a wide left hook at the 90 second mark and Nogueira scores a takedown. Spoon scrambles to his feet quickly and eats more inside thigh kicks from Nogueira. Kick to the body lands for Spoon, but he slips and falls to the mat. He pops back up and Nogueira walks him down. Spoon ends the round with a single-leg takedown against the cage just before the bell.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Nogueira
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Nogueira
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Nogueira

Round 2
Spoon times a leg kick off the bat and drives forward on a single-leg, but Nogueira gets his back against the cage and stays vertical. The Brazilian keeps feeding Spoon a steady diet of leg kicks while moving out the way of the American’s wide, hard hooks. Some nice punches and elbows land in close quarters for Nogueira, who continues to press forward, then play matador to Spoon’s strikes. Spoon gets a couple right hands through and eats a counter. Nogueira comes forward with a three-punch combo, a body kick, and then grabs underhooks to press Spoon into the fence. Spoon circles out and Nogueira decks him with another sharp right hook. Nogueira counters an overhand right from Spoon with a stiff left. With a minute remaining, Nogueira goes to the body with his punches. Nogueira finishes the round strong with a takedown. Spoon elbows from the bottom as the bell sounds.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Nogueira
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Nogueira
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Nogueira

Round 3
K. Mills

Nogueira (left) made a successful
U.S. debut.
Spoon is back to sniping as the final frame begins, but Nogueira is still getting the better of the standup. After a minute, “Betao” decides to bring the fight down and floors Spoon with a double-leg in center cage. Spoon crawls back up and Nogueira makes him pay with a good, hard one-two. Nogueira puts together a three-piece to the head of Spoon and follows up with a flying knee. Spoon is flicking out single punches that are not finding their marks; one left jab sneaks through with two minutes on the clock. Another hooking combo from Nogueira prompts Spoon to bull-rush on a takedown, and it works, but Nogueira immediately stands back up. Two separate left hooks damage Spoon as the final minute approaches. More single left jabs come from Spoon until Nogueira opts for another takedown.

Spoon sprawls, but is clearly exhausted as he gets to his feet and is greeted by a straight left from Nogueira. Spoon lands his best two-punch combination of the fight -- left straight, right cross -- just as it ends.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Nogueira (30-27 Nogueira)
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Nogueira (30-27 Nogueira)
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Nogueira (30-27 Nogueira)

Official scores: Judge Nick Atwood has it 30-27, while judges Jason Greenwalt and Jim Lambert each have it 29-28 for the winner by unanimous decision, Luis Nogueira.

Bellator Light Heavyweight Tournament Semifinal
Tim Carpenter vs. Christian M'Pumbu

K. Mills

M'Pumbu (right) punched his ticket
to the tournament final.
Round 1
M’Pumbu starts out circling, whipping leg kicks at Carpenter, who pushes forward with aggressive punches. Hard leg kicks continue to land inside and outside for the Frenchman. Carpenter is trying to establish his left jab, but it’s not landing and M’Pumbu is waiting to counterstrike. An overhand right from M’Pumbu doubles Carpenter over and M’Pumbu charges him with a right undercut. Carpenter falls to the floor and referee Kevin Nix steps in before M’Pumbu can pounce. Carpenter immediately protests the stoppage, and the replay shows that he was still conscious and posting up to roll to guard. Nonetheless, M’Pumbu hands Carpenter his first career loss via technical knockout at 2:08 of the opening round.

Ronnie Mann vs. Josh Arocho
Round 1
Arocho tries to tie up the collar of Mann and swing uppercuts underneath. Mann stumbles, but it looks to be more from a slip of the foot than anything from his opponent. Mann gets caught stepping in and tripped to the mat by Arocho, but the Brit hits the switch and sweeps nicely, shoveling Arocho into the fence. Mann bloodies the left eye of Arocho with hard elbows and punches from inside Arocho’s closed guard. More nasty elbows are followed by punches to the body and head, and Arocho’s face is looking badly dented up just halfway through the opening round. Arocho throws a few punches from the bottom that prompt Mann to smile and nod before driving his fist into Arocho’s face once more. Further elbows come from Mann on top; Arocho is just trying to tie up and limit the damage, unable to push free. Arocho tries to throw up a triangle, but it doesn’t stick and Mann blasts him with a few more punches before the bell.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Mann
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Mann
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Mann

Round 2
Mann ducks under a left and pops the busted-up Arocho with a hard right straight. Arocho shoots a double and gets sprawled on, then pushed to his back by Mann in the center of the cage. It’s back to the grinding, mashing style of the first round by Mann, who targets the body of Arocho when the American shifts to one side. Mann is racking up elbows as Arocho opens and closes his guard, trying to find a way to stifle his man’s offense. The right hand of Mann drives into Arocho’s ribs half a dozen times with a minute left on the clock. Both of Arocho’s eyes are badly swollen, and the several hard left hands that Mann lands before the bell don’t help matters.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Mann
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Mann
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-8 Mann

Round 3
K. Mills

Mann (right) entered Bellator's 145-pound
division impressively.
Arocho tries to strike for a moment and then dives for another long takedown. Mann sprawls all over it and takes side control as Arocho turns over. Mann has both arms of Arocho pinned down and briefly looks for a keylock. The Englishman abandons the submission and goes back to elbowing Arocho’s face. Mann mounts Arocho in reverse, possibly looking for an inverted triangle, but doesn’t stay in the awkward position long. It’s back to side control for “Kid Ninja,” where he drives his forearm into Arocho’s another half-dozen times. Arocho manages to regain deep half-guard with one minute to go, but he’s just surviving at this point. Mann bangs on the ribs and chin of Arocho in the last 30 seconds, putting the finishing touches on a dominant performance.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Mann (30-27 Mann)
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Mann (30-27 Mann)
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Mann (30-26 Mann)

Official scores: Judge Jim Lambert submits a lopsided scorecard of 30-25, while judges Nick Atwood and Jason Greenwalt each have it 30-27 in favor of Ronnie Mann, the winner by unanimous decision.

Bellator Light Heavyweight Tournament Semifinal
Richard Hale vs. D.J. Linderman

Round 1
Intense staredown between the main eventers as referee Kevin Nix gives instructions. Hale comes out throwing leg kicks at Linderman, while the southpaw flicks jabs at Hale. Huge overhands left swinging over the top from Linderman at his taller opponent; Hale tries to keep him at range with front kicks, one of which sends Linderman staggering back. Backward movement from Hale, who plants a nice left straight on Linderman’s jaw in retreat. Hale’s hands stay at his waist between strikes, inviting the smaller Linderman to come inside. Hale ducks inside and ties up, thudding short left hands to the head of Linderman in the clinch. They disengage. Linderman continues pushing forward and whiffs on a spinning backfist. Hale answers in kind with a missed turning kick. Hale lights Linderman up with a left hook, then a right, but can’t finish with less than 10 seconds remaining.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Hale
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Hale
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Hale

Round 2
Linderman goes for another spinning backfist early in the second, and this one finds the mark on the face of the clowning Hale. Linderman rushes him into the fence, lifts Hale into the air and plants him at the base of the cage. Without any trouble, Hale stands back up and puts Linderman’s back to the fence. Hale catches Linderman in the cup with an inside knee strike and Kevin Nix splits the pair up. Linderman takes about 90 seconds to recover and gets back to work. Linderman throwing leg kicks now, but he eats a hard one-two from Hale on his way inside. Hale answers with some slapping outside thigh kicks of his own as Linderman pushes forward. The faces of both men are showing wear at the midway point of the bout, as both sport lumps beneath their eyes. Hale measures a low kick well and jams a few straight shots into Linderman’s grill. Linderman comes over the top with a punch, then clinches up and misses with knees up the gut. Now Hale digs to the body with the right and Linderman counters with an overhand right. Hale slaps at the face of Linderman, then launches a huge Superman punch. Another single right straight from Hale lands just before the bell.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Hale
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Linderman
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Hale

Round 3
K. Mills

Hale (right) weathered Linderman's
early attack.
The light heavyweights headhunt with power shots again in the opening minute until Linderman charges Hale into the fence and doubles over for the takedown. After 30 or 40 seconds of Linderman digging for it, Hale trips his foe to the floor and immediately jumps to full mount. Linderman gives up his back, but Hale can’t sink in the rear-naked choke. Linderman flips, Hale hops to mount, and they repeat the sequence. Hale has both hooks in and isn’t giving up on the choke this time. Hale sits with his back to the fence, still can’t get the choke, and rolls Linderman over with underhooks to try and loosen the Californian up. Linderman is doing well to defend with a minute still to go in the round. Linderman twists loose and gets Hale off his back, but Hale stays glued to his opponent’s side. Hale finds back mount again and finishes the bout with punches.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Hale (30-27 Hale)
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Hale (29-28 Hale)
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Hale (30-27 Hale)

Official scores: Judge Jason Greenwalt sees the bout 29-28 in favor of D.J. Linderman. However, judges Nick Atwood and Jim Lambert each score it 29-28 for the winner by split decision, Richard Hale. “Rare Breed” moves on to face Christian M’Pumbu in Bellator’s light heavyweight tournament final.

Owen Evinger vs. Brandon Shelton
Round 1
The featherweight local main event starts with a head kick from Evinger and the pair clinch up, where Evinger brings the bout to the mat. Shelton quickly scrambles back to his feet, however, and they reset. Evinger lands a short right and Shelton dives down, taking him to the mat. Shelton quickly looks for an armbar from top, but as Evinger escapes, he exposes his back. Shelton transitions to the back of Evinger, sliding his arm through beneath the neck for the rear-naked choke. The tap follows, and Brandon Shelton is the winner at 2:35 of the first round.
