Mario Navarro vs. Anthony Bain

Round 1
Michigan's Bain clinches up and tries to throw Navarro, but botches the throw and winds up on his back. The Californian quickly gets to mount as Bain tries to bridge, exposing his back. Navarro gets the back, sinks his hooks and instantly looks for a rear-naked choke. He can't get his choking arm fully under the jaw of Bain. Bain is struggling as Navorro cranks on his chin, but he nearly escapes. Navarro establishes back mount, sinks the body triangle and goes to work working for the rear-naked choke again. He starts to come high over the back and Bain smartly turns into his guard. The suddenly-offensive Bain is all over Navorro with postured punches and elbows. Navarro swings for an armbar, but his foe extricates himself and goes back to work with more punches and elbows. Another armbar attempt, and more punishment from Navarro, who pounds away until the horn.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Navarro
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Navarro
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Navarro

Round 2
Keith Mills

Navarro’s groundwork was nifty.
Bain chops at Navarro's legs in the early going, as Navarro is too slow to catch his leg and take him down. The local favorite gets inside and clinches again, and this time gets the trip takedown he sought in the first round. Navarro instantly frames up an armbar, but Bain stands and yanks his way out before delivering a salvo of punches. Navarro is undeterred, and continues to frame up armbars from the bottom, working a high guard. Bain continues to escape and pound away. With two minutes to go in the round, Navarro's high guard comes up high and he surprises Bain with a triangle.

Navarro takes his time, underhooks the far arm, tightens his hips and forces to the tap. The Huntington Beach, Calif., native earns the submission win at 3:18 of the second frame.

Chad Coon vs. Shawn Bunch

Round 1
No surprise: it takes the former U.S. national wrestling team member just five seconds to get Coon on the mat with a double-leg takedown. Coon looks for the armbar, but Bunch breaks free and unloads a salvo of right hands. Bunch slows his pace a moment, and referee Jason Herzog stands the pair up quickly. However, it is just seconds before Bunch trips Coon back to the mat and sets up in guard again. Bunch chips away idly while Coon underhooks his leg, trying for a high guard. For whatever reason, Jason Herzog stands the bantamweights up around. Bunch is tentative on the feet, bouncing with long strides in pursuit of the takedown. Coon tries to knee the advancing Bunch, and gets thrown to the mat for his trouble. Bunch tries to punch away as Coon overhooks his arms until the bell.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Bunch
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Bunch
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Bunch

Round 2
Bunch closes the gap quickly and throws Coon to the mat again. Coon tries to tie the wrestling standout up, while Bunch thuds to the body with short rights. Bunch is starting to grind on Coon, breaking his grip and landing cleaner rights. However, the action slows to a crawl and Herzog is happy to stand the two up once more. Bunch lands a hard right hand behind a jab feint, ducks under and deposits his opponent on the canvas one more time. The Reed City, Mich., native is trapped on the bottom and his guard work seems futile. Neither he nor Bunch can seem to land a clean, hard strike from the bottom or top respectively. Coon overhooks Bunch’s arms until Herzog stands the pair up for a fourth time. No strikes land before the round’s end, although Coon slips throwing a kick at the bell.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Bunch
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Bunch
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Bunch

Round 3
K. Mills

Chad Coon saw a bunch of takedowns.
The first strike of note, a low kick by Coon some 40 seconds into the round, drops Bunch. However, Bunch manages to transition into a low single and tackle his foe to the mat. Bunch tries to posture and land a series of right hands, but he mostly gets the top of Coon’s head. The local product tries to hammerfist back from the bottom, but can’t stop Bunch’s top pressure and control. The wrist-fighting struggle goes on until Herzog notches his fifth standup of the bout with 90 seconds to fight. A Coon inside leg kick stings Bunch, but the wrestler is smart to get well away from the next two that come his way.

Coon is chasing Bunch, trying to land kicks, but Bunch simply circles away, trying to run the time out. Coon steps in, and Bunch cracks him with a nice right hand before the final bell.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Bunch (30-27 Bunch)
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Bunch (30-27 Bunch)
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Bunch (30-27 Bunch)

Official result: All three judges -- David Peabody, David Tirelli and Cardo Urso -- score the bout 30-27 for the winner by unanimous decision, Shawn Bunch.

Brendan Seguin vs. Giva Santana

Round 1
Santana gets an immediate takedown and moves to full mount. Seguin gets half guard, but Santana continues to control the action before moving to full mount again. Santana briefly looks for an arm triangle but he lets it go. Santana is high in mount as he drops a few short punches on his opponent. The Brazilian continues to pound away while looking for an opening to set up an armbar. Seguin resists and is able to establish full guard. Santana lands a couple right hands from above, and now the two combatants are back up. Seguin doesn't land anything before Santana scores another easy takedown. He's looking for a heel hook, but Seguin is back to his feet after a scramble. They tie up against the cage as the round expires, with Seguin throwing a couple rights and an uppercut.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Santana
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Santana
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Santana

Round 2
K. Mills

Santana took a leg home for a change instead.
Seguin puts Santana into the fence early, dirty boxing and putting physical pressure on the Brazilian. Eventually, “The Arm Collector” frees himself and gets another easy single-leg takedown. Santana goes back to the gameplan from there. He cuts through Seguin’s guard and moves to a high mount, where he punches away until Seguin gives up an arm. Santana rolls for the armbar, but Seguin stacks him up and escapes the lock. Instantly, the savvy grappler latches onto Seguin’s leg and straightens out a nasty kneebar with Seguin’s leg fully extended in front of him.

Seguin tries to avoid tapping, but cries out in verbal submission, forcing referee Dan Miragliotta into action. The fantastic submission comes at 2:33 of the second frame.

Terry Davinney vs. Matt Van Buren

K. Mills

Davinney devastated van Buren in 15 ticks.

Round 1
Van Buren lands a two-punch combination early, but after missing with a wild low kick Davinney moves forward and drops him with a big left hand square on the jaw. Sensing the kill, the Detroit native Davinney pounces, dropping three more right hands on his fallen opponent before referee Todd Anderson steps in to halt the contest. The official time of the stoppage is 15 seconds for your winner by knockout, Terry Davinney.

Jeremy Czarnecki vs. Justin Houghton

Round 1
Czarnecki shoots almost immediately and is easily stuffed by Houghton. The Lansing, Mich., native again wings a bunch and comes barreling in for a takedown, but “J-Ho” easily sidesteps him. Czarnecki tries a left hook-spinning back fist combo that whizzes wide, and Houghton smacks him with a low kick for his trouble. Houghton steps a full two strides in and crushes the back of Czarnecki’s lead leg with a hard low kick. A spinning back kick from a seemingly desperate Czarnecki is nowhere near close. A hard low kick and two heavy jabs from Houghton follow, and then he stylishly limplegs out of another Czarnecki takedown attempt. Another spinning back kick from “The Czar” has him walking right into a left hook. Czarnecki throws a capoeira-style half moon kick and eats it, tumbling to the canvas for a moment while Houghton nonchalantly stares him down. Stiff jab from Houghton stings Czarnecki again before the bell.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Houghton
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Houghton
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Houghton

Round 2
Houghton continues to advance patiently, pumping a solid jab, while Czarnecki runs away and throws sporadic, erratic kicks. When Czarnecki swipes with punches, he’s far outside the much rangier Houghton, who is able to potshot easily with his hands. Czarnecki takes a run at Houghton, who glances with an uppercut and straight while moving backwards. Czarnecki throws a push kick or some other leg attack nearly every time Houghton apparoaches, but can’t actually seem to make contact. Czarnecki rushes Houghton again, and Houghton simply backpedals and sidesteps his takedown attempt. A spinning back kick for Czarnecki finally lands, but Houghton responds with a body kick of his own. Czarnecki dives in with an overhand right that surprises “J-Ho”, freezing him up. He pounces immediately, windmilling with punches and landing a hard left cross as well before the horn.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Houghton
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Houghton
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Houghton

Round 3
K. Mills

’The Czar’ topped ‘J-Ho’ in a battle of
local flavor.
The third round is more of the same, as Houghton walks forward with slight jabs, while Czarnecki kicks in response. “The Czar” is throwing more low kicks than spinning attacks now, but can’t land hard on “J-Ho”. Houghton’s jab has his foe’s face cut and swollen now. Czarnecki wings a pair of hooks, but Houghton comes through the middle with a hard knee that finds the chin. A “J-Ho, J-Ho!” chant breaks out for the Michigan native now based in Denver. A low kick and spinning back kick land for Czarnecki. Houghton continues to circle around and jab as the final minute winds down, showing no urgency whatsoever in a fairly tame fight.

Czarnecki charges with punches and a salvo of kicks before the bell, but succeeds only in running into Houghton’s hands.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Houghton (30-27 Houghton)
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Houghton (30-27 Houghton)
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Houghton (30-27 Houghton)

Official result: All three judges -- Eric Colon, Dave Tirelli and Cardo Urso -- score the bout 29-28 for the winner by unanimous decision, Jeremy Czarnecki.

Hector Garcia vs. John Schulz

Round 1
Schulz throws a body kick, but gets clipped by a Garcia hook counter. Schulz goes down but does a good job covering up and regaining his feet. He lands a jab, but Garcia is relentless with his punching, forcing Schulz back to the fence with long crosses. Garcia pushes his man into the fence and tries to dirty box, but Schulz turns him around, elevates him and slams him to the mat. He is quickly into side control and fakes going to mount before taking a top crucifix. As the Kalamazoo, Mich., fighter tries to escape, Schulz takes his back with both hooks in and over half the round still left to fight. Left hands and elbows from Schulz land. He postures up and lands three hard rights. The beating continues as Schulz patiently pounds away before taking an arm-triangle choke. He moves to the side to finish it, but he doesn’t base down to finish and Garcia escapes. Schulz takes side control and lands elbows until the bell.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Schulz
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Schulz
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Schulz

Round 2
Garcia lands a hard right on an advancing Schulz, but a double-leg takedown is the equalizer. Garcia shows no sprawl, ending up on his back quickly. Schulz moves to side control and punches away. Schulz punches and mauls his way to full mount on a tiring Garcia. Garcia tries to push off the fence with his feet and bridge out of mount, but winds up giving up his back to Schulz, who quickly sinks a body triangle in. Garcia breaks the body triangle, but Schulz wacks him with a host of rights and lefts. With 80 seconds to go in the round, it looks like Schulz’s fight to finish. The blood is starting to flow from Garcia’s face and he is trapped on the bottom. Garcia bucks enough to get Schulz off of him, but winds up getting pummeled and caught in a half guard guillotine before the bell.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-8 Schulz
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-8 Schulz
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Schulz

Round 3
K. Mills

Schulz lived in full mount against Garcia.
Schulz throws a lazy jab and Garcia touches him behind the ear with a right hand. Schulz misses with a right, but forces Garcia to punch back. As soon as Garcia strikes, Schulz ducks under, double-legs and is into full mount in the blink of an eye. Garcia turns and goes partially belly down, with Schulz landing short rights. Schulz continues to land but can’t produce the kind of hard, clean shots necessary to garner a stoppage from referee Jason Herzog. He moves his mount higher and pounds away. Schulz’s strikes keep coming until referee Jason Herzog intervenes at 2:45 of the third round.

Tony Hervey vs. Alexander Sarnavskiy

Round 1
Hervey throws a push kick to start and Sarnavskiy catches it, running him back into the cage. The Russian gets double underhooks and wrestles Hervey to the mat. Hervey tries to bridge to escape guard, but winds up just getting mounted. “Tiger” steps over Hervey’s head and immediately seeks a topside triangle. Hervey’s arm is trapped as well, so the Russian simply changes his plan and grabs the arm. He cranks it hard, but Hervey twists underneath, escapes and winds up on top for a moment. Sarnavskiy snakes up the fence immediately, however, and gets in on another takedown. He sucks Hervey’s legs out and sets up on top again. “Tiger” stands up, punching down on his foe before essentially falling into mount for a moment. Hervey escapes but is stuck on his back, eating punches from Sarnavskiy. The Russian continues to stand up out of the guard, diving back in with punches periodically until the bell.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Sarnavskiy
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Sarnavskiy
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Sarnavskiy

Round 2
A Sarnavskiy spinning back fist clips an advancing Hervey. When the Detroit fighter tries to respond, Sarnavskiy simply tosses him to the mat once more. Hervey continues to try to kick “Tiger” off of him, but can’t stop Sarnavskiy from raining down punches. The Russian takes mount for a third time as Hervey tries to push off of the fence with his feet. Hervey tries to guard his head from rights and lefts while continuously looking to bridge off of the fence. Sarnavskiy stays patient, throwing clean shots around Hervey’s guard and pulling him away from the fence. However, once Hervey is pulled away from the fence, he explodes and bridges free, getting back to his feet. Sarnavskiy tries to bull his way to another takedown in the clinch, but Hervey fights off the fence. Once at range, however, “Tiger” finds an easy double-leg takedown and sets up on top with 90 seconds left in the round. Hervey shrimps his way back to the fence, but it’s more ground-and-pound from Sarnavskiy until the bell.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Sarnavskiy
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Sarnavskiy
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Sarnavskiy

Round 3
K. Mills

Sarnavskiy stifled Hervey's high-flying act.
A body kick from Sarnavskiy spurs Hervey to throw a half moon kick in response, but Sarnavskiy goes right through his kick and puts him on the mat once more. “Tiger” pounds way until Hervey jumps up. Sarnavskiy grabs a rear waistlock, prompting Hervey to run toward the fence and try to run up the cage and backflip away. He half gets there, awkwardly rolling back onto Sarnavskiy and forcing the two to bail out. Sarnavskiy drives into a takedown out of the scramble. As Hervey tries to reverse, Sarnavskiy turns the corner and takes his back halfway through the final frame.

The Russian punches away but doesn’t actively look for a choke. Hervey rolls and gives up full mount, which Sarnavskiy takes, but Hervey bucks and shakes him for a moment. The Russian reestablishes his position and takes the back once again. Hervey is reaching back, still trying to attack his foe, but is obviously hapless. Sarnavskiy gets bucked from mount, but punches away on Hervey until the bell.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Sarnavskiy (30-27 Sarnavskiy)
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Sarnavskiy (30-27 Sarnavskiy)
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Sarnavskiy (30-27 Sarnavskiy)

Official result: All three judges -- Scott Haggith, Dave Tirelli and Cardo Urso -- score the bout 30-27 for the winner by unanimous decision, Alexander Sarnavskiy.

Kala Hose vs. Doug Marshall

Round 1
K. Mills

Doug Marshall made Kala Hose his latest
‘knock dead’ victim.
Marshall comes out throwing, raking with a pair of hooks. Hose gains his footing and responds with a salvo of punches of his own. Marshall tries to break away and eats a hard knee from Hose. Hose charges at Marshall and tries to follow up, but he runs right into a massive overhand left haymaker from “The Rhino.” Hose is out before he hits the mat, and his head bounces off of the mat as he tumbles. Referee Todd Anderson dives over the downed fighter to save him from any further Marshall assault. The sudden, violent end comes at only 22 seconds of the first round.

David Rickels vs. Jason Fischer

Round 1
Fischer is in-and-out quickly, throwing kicks to keep Rickels away while trying to land single shots. Rickels quickly clinches but can’t find a takedown. “Caveman” responds with some kicking offense of his own, but Fischer rips him with a left hook once he gets comfortable throwing leg strikes. Fischer shoots, but Rickels stuffs him. They clinch briefly before disengaging from the fence. A Fischer jabs sneaks through, but Rickels lands a hard body kick in response. They clinch again and Fischer dives for a leg, but once more, Rickels easily shucks him off. Another jab lands for Rickels and the Kansas fighter throws another leg kick, too. They come inside to the clinch, dirty boxing and exchanging blows, jarring Rickels’ mouthguard free. Jason Herzog calls time for him to recover the mouthpiece, and as soon as they restart, Fischer gets in deep on the takedown he wants, sucking Rickels to the canvas. Rickels kicks Fischer away, and they retake the feet. Right uppercut lands for Fischer. Rickels punches forward, tagging Fischer and prompting a desperate shot. Rickels throws Fischer off and lands in top position, but Fischer looks for an armbar that puts “Caveman” on the defense for a few moments. Fischer continues trying to work an active guard from the bottom while Rickels chips away until the bell.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Fischer
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Fischer
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Fischer

Round 2
Rickels continues to try to work kicks into his offense, probing forward with teeps and body kicks, while Fischer tries to ward him off with the jab. They clinch along the fence with over-unders with neither man gaining a serious advantage. Rickels tries to rip free and a tired Fischer exposes his back. “Caveman” is on him in a heartbeat, diving on top. Fischer manages to turn, but still winds up mounted. Rickels pounds away from mount, but Fischer scissors his legs up high to push him off, winding up in a leglock race position. He tries for a haphazard Achilles lock, but Rickels pulls his leg free. The Mash Fight Team product dives on Rickels’ leg, tackling him to the mat again and taking top position with two minutes to go in the round. Rickels tries to work his leg up for a high guard, but can’t make progress. He scoots up to his feet and as he looks for a takedown of his own, the tired Fischer simply pulls guard. Rickels stands up out of the guard and dives back in with punches, stunning Fischer who rolls around, desperate to escape. He clings to a single and Rickels pounds on his head until the bell tolls.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Rickels
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Rickels
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Rickels

Round 3
Rickels calmly works his jab, while Fischer explodes forward with arm-weary punches. He glances Rickels, but the Bellator tournament veteran lands punches of his own in return, walking through Fischer’s shots and pushing him into the fence. “Caveman” looks for a single-leg, then tries to shoot the leg by to take the back standing. Fischer tries to defend by locking up a belly-to-back kimura, but Rickels kneels down and pounds on him while trying to take his back. Rickels gets lazy, however, as Fischer smartly rolls through with Rickels’ arm in his grasp, sweeping to top position.

K. Mills

Rickels offense in all positions earned him
the unanimous decision win.
Fischer postures up to punch, but Rickels quickly locks up an armbar. Fischer stands up, but manages to step on Rickels' face to gain leverage and yank his arm out. The Michigan fighter sets up on top again, while Rickels tries to creep his guard up. He manages to get his right leg over Fischer’s head and shoulders, threatening with a potential triangle, while punching and elbowing away from the bottom. Fischer breaks free and sets up in full guard again. Rickels slaps Fischer’s ears and punches from the bottom, while Fischer mostly just gets tied up. Rickels nearly sweeps at the bell, but Fischer manages to at least stay on top.

He goes back to the well with a right uppercut that knocks Good’s head up. The pair trade inside low kicks of similar impact. Good steps into the pocket and just avoids a three-piece combo from Koreshkov. Two hooks for “Spartan” land and Good clinches briefly before pushing the Russian away. Good walks forward, straight into another right uppercut. This time, “Cyborg” is buckled and hits his knees for a second, but shows considerable composure by recovering quickly. The pace slows for a moment, until Koreshkov lands an overhand right and follows with another hard flurry. Spinning hook kick from Koreshkov is blocked by Good, but the young Russian is starting to find his rhythm. Loud body kick from Koreshkov lands. Left jab-right uppercut lands for Koreshkov again, and he almost clocks Good with a jumping knee to follow. Koreshkov turns southpaw, but can’t land any more firepower before the bell.

Overhand right from Good dings his opponent and gives him the perfect chance to shoot a double. He puts Koreshkov on the mat and as “Spartan” tries to scramble back up quick, takes his back with both hooks. Good flattens Koreshkov out belly down and starts working for a rear-naked choke. Koreshkov rolls back and gets one hook out, but the Tiger Schulmann product smartly sneaks it back in and regains full back control. Good chops away from the back with left hooks and right elbows, but as he gets into pounding, he gets knocked off balance and Koreshkov escapes back to his feet. Lead right uppercut for Koreshkov sneaks through again. Good gets the collar tie, but Koreshkov punches his way out. Good shoots for the double, but “Spartan” sees it coming and shucks him off easily.

K. Mills

Koreshkov punched his ticket to a Bellator
title shot against Ben Askren.
Koreshkov has slowed noticeably at the midpoint of the round. Good ducks under, takes him down and gets his back instantly once again, but he can’t sink his hooks this time and Koreshkov escapes to his feet. After regaining his feet, Koreshkov shoots for the double, surprising Good and putting him on the canvas along the cage.
