Bellator Fighting Championships on Friday announced the signing of undefeated welterweight David Rickels to a multi-fight deal, the terms of which were not disclosed.
Known as “The Caveman,” Rickels is a two-time Bellator veteran and earned wins in both of his promotional appearances, submitting Dylan Smith and Richard Bouphanouvong with a pair of triangle chokes in April and May, respectively.
“Bellator is the place I want to be,” Rickels said in a release. “This is a place I can make a career for myself. You look at Bellator, and they have Top 10 welterweights like Jay Hieron and Ben Askren; it’s a dream to be fighting alongside those guys.”
The promotion has yet to reveal a debut date or an opponent for Rickels in his Bellator return. A training partner of UFC veteran Anthony Njokuani, the welterweight has only been to a decision once in his career and holds five of his seven career victories by submission.
