Spike TV has decided to bring Jimmy Smith over from Bellator MMA to provide analysis alongside former champion Antonio Tarver for its new Premier Boxing Champions series that begins on March 13.

The news was revealed on Thursday through a press release. The first card will take place at Citizen’s Bank Arena in Ontario, Calif., and is headlined by Andre Berto against Josesito Lopez and Shawn Porter versus Robert Garcia.

"We are thrilled to add two dynamic and knowledgeable voices who each possess their own unique perspectives of combat sports," said Jon Slusser, Spike TV’s Senior Vice President of Sports and Branded Entertainment. "Antonio delivers a huge personality with a championship pedigree and Jimmy will bring his incredible insight and energy that he has for MMA to boxing."

Smith has been calling fights for Bellator since 2010 alongside Sean Wheelock. Tarver, a former undisputed light heavyweight champion, is best known for his knockout of Roy Jones Jr.

The boxing series will play an integral part in Spike TV’s new block of combat sports, “Friday Night Lights Out.”
