Bellator MMA to Receive Regulatory Support from Mohegan Commission for London Event
Bellator MMA on Wednesday announced that the Mohegan Department of
Athletic Regulation will provide regulatory support for this
Saturday’s Bellator
158 event in London.
The Mohegan commission be conducting regulatory pre- and post-fight drug testing on the combatants on the card, according to a release. According to a recent report from MMAjunkie.com, Bellator 158 fighters submit urine tests and licensed through the Mohegan commission. Since the sport is not regulated by the government in the U.K., it is up to the promotion to coordinate drug testing.
“I couldn’t be more pleased to have the Mohegan commission’s involvement in Bellator’s upcoming international event,” Bellator Director of Regulatory Affairs and ISKA President Cory Schafer said in a statement. “It will help establish a level of regulatory consistency that clearly serves the best interest of the promotion and the athletes. We look forward to very successful and well-regulated event.”
Bellator 158 will held at the O2 in London, England and will be anchored by the welterweight showdown between knockout artists Paul Daley and Douglas Lima. Spike will televise the action live in America at 9 p.m. ET/9 p.m. PT.
