Fourteen fights are now slated for Bellator’s Nov. 2 pay-per-view event, as promotion officials Tuesday revealed that UFC veteran Karo Parisyan will face unbeaten Cristiano Souza during the Spike TV-broadcast preliminary card.
Headlined by a light heavyweight scrap between ex-UFC champions Tito Ortiz and Quinton Jackson, the event takes place at the Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach, Calif. The evening’s pay-per-view offering is preceded by both a preliminary stream on Spike.com and a four-fight undercard broadcast on Spike TV.
Once considered the top welterweight contender in the UFC, Parisyan, 31, has seen his career altered by injuries and personal issues. Known for his high-level judo, Parisyan recently saw a two-fight winning streak snapped in his Bellator debut by former lightweight title challenger and fellow judoka Rick Hawn, who knocked out Parisyan in the second round of their April 4 confrontation.
Souza owns six pro outings to his credit and has yet to experience defeat in nearly four years of competition. Nicknamed “Soldier Boy,” the American Top Team representative has gone 2-0 under the Bellator banner, most recently knocking out Robert Otani roughly 11 months ago at Bellator 80.
