While no bouts have been announced for either event, Sherdog.com has confirmed that the promotion will once again hold an event outdoors when it visits Yuma in October. Casino Rama has also announced that the “$100,000 welterweight tournament championship” will go down on Nov. 12, indicating that the fifth-season 170-pound tournament final will take place at the show.
Bellator’s initial visit to Cocopah took place in Season 4 and was also held outdoors. The April 16 show saw featherweight champion Joe Warren edge Marcos Galvao in a contentious unanimous decision. Bellator 41 also saw bantamweight champion Zach Makovsky finish Chad Robichaux, while Daniel Straus and Patricio Freire both advanced to the Season 4 featherweight tournament final with respective wins over Kenny Foster and Wilson Reis.
Casino Rama hosted Bellator’s Canadian debut during its Summer Series trilogy between its fourth and fifth seasons. Held on July 23, Bellator 47 featured the promotional debut of Chris Horodecki, as the hometown favorite bested Chris Saunders by unanimous decision. The Summer Series featherweight semifinals were also showcased, as Marlon Sandro and Pat Curran took home victories over Nazareno Malegarie and Ronnie Mann, respectively. Heavyweight Neil Grove also earned a win at the event, knocking out Zak Jensen in just two minutes.
