MMAjunkie.com first reported the news, adding that Rothwell could be dealing with a torn meniscus as well as an ACL injury. The UFC has yet make an official announcement regarding Rothwell’s status.

UFC 203 takes place at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland on Sept. 10 and is headlined by a heavyweight title bout between Stipe Miocic and Alistair Overeem. The evening’s main card airs on pay-per-view and also includes the MMA debut of former WWE superstar Phil Brooks, who takes on Mickey Gall in a featured clash.

Rothwell is coming off a lopsided decision loss to Junior dos Santos in the main event of UFC Fight Night in Zagreb, Croatia on April 10. Prior to that, the Kenosha, Wisc., native had reeled off four straight victories in the Octagon, besting Josh Barnett, Matt Mitrione, Overeem and Brandon Vera.
