The UFC is targeting UFC 232 on Dec. 29 for Cyborg’s for the bout, ESPN confirmed on Friday. Should Nunes pull off the upset, she would be the first two-time women’s UFC champion in the promotion’s history.
Cristiane Justino -300 (1/3)
Amanda Nunes +230 (23/10)
The two champions have had a bit of back and forth on social media lately, with Nunes posting a signed bout agreement on Wednesday, a day after Cyborg tried to coax Nunes into fighting at UFC 228 in September instead:
Both women are former Strikeforce fighters who have dominated their respective UFC divisions since joining in the promotion, with the featherweight class still very much in development.
Cyborg is coming off of a first-round TKO over Yana Kunitskaya at UFC 222, while Nunes defeated Raquel Pennington in the fifth round at UFC 224 in May.
