'Bigfoot' Sighting

Oct 30, 2007
If everything really is bigger in Texas, super heavyweight American Top Team fighter Antonio 'Bigfoot" Silva sure found the right place to make his comeback.

Fighting Nov. 10 on the EliteXC card in Corpus, Christi, Texas, Silva returns to MMA for the first time since being denied a license to fight June 2 in Calif. He will face Jonathan Wiezorek (Pictures) (11-1).

The Brazilian behemoth, listed at 6-foot-4, 300 pounds, was forced to take time off from MMA world after the unclear situation surrounding his participation on the "Dynamite!! USA" card in Los Angeles. Silva, who would have faced Wiezorek that night at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, was forced off the card by the California State Athletic Commission because of medical concerns associated with his gigantism, including a tumor in his head.

Things remained unclear in Brazil when no information was released about the fighter's condition, all the while his camp and manager worked to resolve the issue. After undergoing a medical procedure and taking nearly five months away, Silva (8-1) obtained permission to fight three weeks ago and is confirmed to compete on the Showtime-televised Corpus Christi card.
