Boxing world champion Heather Hardy will make her sophomore Bellator MMA appearance this fall.
“The Heat” announced during "The MMA Hour" on Monday that she will return to the cage at Bellator 185 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., on Oct. 20. Sherdog.com subsequently confirmed the news with a source close to the situation on Tuesday. Hardy does not yet have an opponent.
Bellator 185 is headlined by a middleweight showdown between recent UFC signee Gegard Mousasi and former champion Alexander Shlemenko. In the co-main event, Muhammed Lawal will square off against Liam McGeary at light heavyweight. The evening’s main card will be televised on Spike.
Hardy made her MMA debut at Bellator 180 in Madison Square Garden, where she earned a technical knockout triumph over Alice Yauger at the 4:47 mark of the third round at flyweight. The 35-year-old Brooklyn native compiled a 20-0 record and captured the WBC international featherweight title as a professional boxer before electing to try her hand at MMA.
