Boxing: Joseph Diaz Jr. to Fight Ruben Tamayo on Oct. 23
Golden Boy Promotions announced Thursday that undefeated featherweight contender Joseph Diaz Jr. will square off against Ruben Tamayo in the main event of a card to be televised by Estrella TV live from Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, Calif., on Oct. 23.
Diaz (17-0, 10 KOs) has been impressive thus far in his young career, as he’s toppled a plethora of moderate opponents throughout California and Texas. Diaz last fought in July, when he outpointed Rene Alvarado over 10 rounds. Tamayo will mark the first sturdy test of his professional life up to this point as he’s taken on much stiffer opposition.
