Boxing News: Adonis Stevenson to Defend WBC Title Against Dmitry Sukhotsky

WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson will return to action in Quebec City on Dec. 19 to face Dmitry Sukhotsky in a Showtime-televised title defense.

Canadian-based promotional company Groupe Yvon Michel announced the pairing on Monday. The card will also feature Artur Beterbiev (6-0, 6 KOs) versus Kevin Bizier (26-1, 16 KOs).

Stevenson (24-1, 20 KOs) is coming off of a decision victory against Andrzej Fonfara. The upcoming bout will serve as his fourth title defense.

Big fights await the southpaw, who recently left HBO Boxing to join forces with promoter Al Haymon and Showtime. The rumors circulating indicate future fights with Bernard Hopkins and Jean Pascal -- that is, of course, if Stevenson can get through the Russian with a victory.

Sukhotsky (22-2, 16 KO) has not suffered a loss since July 2012, when he dropped a unanimous decision to Cornelius White for the vacant IBF title.
