Premier Boxing Champions returns to Las Vegas on Saturday for a solid card loaded with young contenders at the Palms Casino Resort. Headlined by a 12-round cruiserweight showdown between former light heavyweight champion Beibut Shumenov and B.J. Flores, the event will be televised live on NBCSN starting at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
PBC on Tuesday announced that a featherweight bout between former world champion Rico Ramos and Claudio Marrero is set to anchor the undercard. Ramos (24-4, 12 KOs) is the former WBA super bantamweight titlist and is looking to continue his winning ways against the hard-hitting Marrero. Ramos lost his belt to pound-for-pound entrant Guillermo Rigondeaux in 2012, but the Californian seems to have gotten things back together as he last fought in December, topping grizzled veteran Juan Ruiz via decision.
Standing in his way is Marrero (18-1, 13 KOs), who has won four straight after losing for the first time almost two yeas ago. The Dominican Republic native will have the sturdiest test of his career ahead of him in Ramos; a win over him will surely catapult Marrero up the 126-pound ranks.
As was previously reported, the PBC on NBCSN card will also feature a 10-round duel between unbeaten cruiserweights Jordan Shimmell (19-0, 16 KOs) and Isiah Thomas (14-0, six KOs). Set to appear on the card as well are young contenders Michael Hunter (8-0, five KOs) versus Michael Bissett (9-7, seven KOs) at heavyweight; Andrew Tabiti (10- 10 KOs) against Roberto Santos (12-1, five KOs) in a cruiserweight bout; and super lightweight Ladarius Miller (7-0, one KO) taking on Sean Gee (2-0).
