Former Ultimate Fighting Championship star Brandon Vera will fight for One Championship gold on Dec. 11 in Manila.
The Singapore-based promotion announced Wednesday morning that the 37-year-old will face undefeated Brit Chi Lewis-Parry for the organization’s inaugural heavyweight title at Manila’s Mall of Asia.
“I'm excited to have the honor of fighting for the One heavyweight world championship in the Philippines,” said Vera in a press release. “I am very much looking forward to fighting Mr. Parry, especially since he's been asking for it.”
Vera, 13-7-1, was a mainstay in the UFC for more than nine years. The Alliance MMA product easily dispatched of Igor Subora last December in his One Championship debut via soccer kicks.
“Brandon Vera and Chi Lewis Parry are two of the most exciting heavyweight fighters in the world, and with the One Heavyweight title on the line we can expect a fantastic fight,” said One Championship CEO Victor Cui.
Parry, 6-0 with 1 No Contest, has finished all of his opponents. The 32-year-old Dream Team representative last competed in July, when he took out Alain Ngalani with first-round elbow strikes.
