Although it wasn’t necessarily the fight he was seeking, Michael Chandler will get his chance to regain the lightweight title he lost to Brent Primus last summer.

Sherdog.com confirmed with a Bellator official that the rematch will take place at a Bellator event on April 13 at the The Family Arena in St. Charles, Mo. The card will be televised on the Paramount Network. MMAFighting.com first reported the bout.

Primus upset Chandler via first-round doctor stoppage at Bellator 180 on June 24 after Chandler suffered an injured foot and was unable to continue. Chandler recently said that he wasn’t interested in the title and would prefer to take big fights instead.

Primus hasn’t competed since his victory over Chandler. The 32-year-old Portland, Ore., native owns an 8-0 career mark that includes six triumphs in Bellator. His other most notable victory came via split decision against Derek Anderson at Bellator 141.

Chandler, meanwhile, returned to action at Bellator 192, where he captured a dominant verdict over Goiti Yamauchi on Jan. 20. The 31-year-old has won five of his last six appearances, including wins over Benson Henderson and Patricky Freire.
