CES MMA 38 Weigh-in Results: UFC Vet Soriano On Point, Makashvili Heavy
New England-based
CES MMA returns to the limelight on Friday with another night
of solid fisticuffs. CES MMA 38 will be headlined by a pair of
Ultimate Fighting Championship veterans looking to get back on
the sport’s biggest stage.
Sean Soriano entered the famed Octagon after winning his first eight pro MMA fights, but the Blackzilian fighter hit a wall and lost three straight. He was released from the UFC and is in desperate need of a win after going 1-1 in the Legacy FC cage. Standing opposite of Soriano will be Levan Makashvili, who went 1-1-1 under the UFC umbrella. The Mutant MMA representative bounced back with a win over Ryan Sanders at CES MMA 36 in June and wants to keep things rolling.
At Thursday’s weigh-ins. Only one of the main event combatants was
on point. Soriano clocked in at the scale officially right on the
featherweight limit at 145 pounds. Makashvili, however, weighed in
at 147 pounds, though their contest will go on as expected. As of
this writing, there was no official word on any penalty against
Makashvili and promotion officials didn’t inform Sherdog.com
whether he’d be weighing in a second time.
