Dec 4, 2007
The California State Athletic Commission on Tuesday upheld Kazuhiro Nakamura's (Pictures) suspension for marijuana use following his unanimous decision defeat to Lyoto Machida (Pictures) at UFC 76 on Sep. 22, reports Sherdog.com's Josh Gross.

Nakamura, 28, was suspended for 90 days and fined $500.

Also at Tuesday's hearing, mixed martial artist Adam Smith's appeal was dropped after he failed to appear.

Smith became the first athlete to test positive for both anabolic agents and drugs of abuse in the State of Calif. in the same screening. Smith has been suspended a total of 21 months and fined $4,000 for both offenses.
